Sandtray World Reflections: Bicycle!

Bicycle! Bicycle! Bicycle! (Is the Queen song popping into your head)?

Who doesn't love a good bike ride (in real life, or in Minecraft Education)?!

This sporty little number is another unique, rideable vehicle from Ellie Finch's, PlayMode Academy Sandtray Therapy World, that came out of one of our brainstorming sessions, jamming out fun vehicle ideas. 

Of course, it wouldn't be one of my creations if it didn't have a back story! This bicycle is modeled on my very own, much loved bicycle, which I bought way back in 1987 (incidentally, the same year the infamous Rick Astley song was released)! It was my very first, major personal purchase as a kid, and I was so aghast at the price, I swore I'd never purchase another bike!

It lived in my bedroom for years (I didn't want it getting rusty or covered in spiders like my other bikes), and I polished it after every ride. It only made it to school on a handful of occasions. One day I went to collect it after the school and my bike lock was lying on the ground beside it... so, I took that as a warning, relegated it to recreational use, and I walked to school for the next few years!

37 years later, while it no longer lives in my bedroom (my partner would have something to say about that), it remains the only bike I've ever purchased, and has a comfy wee place to stay in our garage. "Never gonna give you up..."
