Sandtray World Reflections: Pre-Made House
At a casual glance, this simple little Minecraft Education house may appear to be built of blocks... but, look closer! You'll notice some elements that give the game away... this structure is actually an entity, created in Blockbench for Ellie Finch of PlayMode Academy's Sandtray Therapy World.
Ellie wanted to give players who might not have the time, or the building skills yet the option of creating a house quickly. We discussed using structure blocks and some other options, but ultimately, we decided it would be a lot simpler for players if the house was a ready built, placeable entity. With a little effort and thought, players can also arrange furniture within the interior of the house.
I deliberately used (for the most part) existing Minecraft shapes and textures during the modelling stage so that the house appeared as a structure that had been built with standard inventory blocks and items. There's even a chest "placed" inside!
Of course, it wouldn't be me if I didn't take a few liberties and sneak in some extra detail! This creation was a lot of fun to build, balancing established Minecraft aesthetics with my own.
What details do you see that give it away?
